Implant Restorations In Salisbury, MD

For anyone dealing with tooth loss, finding the proper cosmetic option to restore your smile takes a lot of time. For many patients, dental implants are the ideal option, as they offer a new tooth that both looks and feels just like a natural tooth, so no one will be able to tell the difference. Furthermore, dental implants are durable and are designed to last you a lifetime.

However, even with the best care accidents happen. If you’ve broken your dental crown, the good news is that this is rarely a dental emergency. Although, you will still need to come in within the next day or two so we can properly fix your dental crown.

Salisbury Dental Implants Fixing a Dental Implant Crown

How we repair your damaged dental crown will depend on the severity and size of the damage. For minor breaks or cracks, we can easily buff out and reshape your crown to get rid of unsightly damage. This can be completed in one dental visit and won’t require anesthesia.

However, if a more severe fracture or crack occurs this can affect the overall integrity and structure of your dental crown. In these cases, we highly recommend replacing the dental crown for a brand new one. The process for getting a new dental crown will be no different from when you got your first crown.

The first step requires us to take impressions of the tooth, which will then be sent to a lab where they will make your custom-made artificial tooth match the rest of your smile. In the meantime, we will place a temporary crown over your implant. After about a week, your permanent dental crown will be finished and ready to be placed over the abutment or connector portion of your implant.

If you are experiencing problems with your dental implants or a damaged crown, then it’s time to call our office and schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
